Quick & Easy Deep Dish Pizza
Are there days when you’re craving homemade pizza but don’t want to wait 4-8 hours for the dough to rise? Well, Instant Pot Pizza is your answer! Here is the recipe to the perfect deep dish pizza and how to quicken the rising process in the Instant Pot. If you don’t have an Instant Pot, don’t worry… you can follow the exact same recipe and just let the dough rise on its own for at least 4-6 hours covered completely. If you haven’t heard about the Instant Pot, it’s an amazing 1 pot tool that you can use as a pressure cooker, slow cooker, crock pot and many other functions that can speed up your cooking. They have multiple sizes and models available. I use the Instant Pot Ultra, which is a 10-in-1 model that allows me to make my own yogurt as well. For this recipe, the yogurt function is what I used. To buy your own Instant Pot, click here to buy it from Amazon.
Combine 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 packet of Fleischmann’s pizza yeast, and 1.5 cups warm water in a large mixing bowl. Mix well so there are no lumps and let is sit aside for 20 minutes or until it is completely foamy.
Add 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 tablespoon olive oil and mix. Then add 2 1/2 cups of flour to make your dough. Once you have absorbed all the flour in the liquid, add another tablespoon of oil around your dough and kneed well. Add more flour if needed.
Once your dough has been kneaded, damp your dough with a bit of oil around it so it does not stick in your Instant Pot and place it in the center. Close lid and make sure your vent is closed to prevent air/steam from escaping. Finally put it on yogurt setting for 30 minutes.
If you are not using an Instant Pot, cover your dough fully either with a lid or saran wrap and place in a warm location such an an oven (don’t need to turn it on). I like to turn the oven light on so it creates some warmth. Let it sit for at least 4-6 hours.
Once your dough is ready, grease your pizza pan or use tinfoil and spread out your dough. You can use store bough pizza sauce or make your own. I will provide my famous pizza sauce recipe in another blog post soon, so keep an eye out for that! Add your toppings with cheese and bake at 350 degrees for 20-23 minutes. Our favorites are onions, green peppers, mushrooms and olives. Once you’ve put everything you want on there, just sit back and relax while you wait for the oven to do it’s thing!
Hope this turns out great for you as it does for my family. Good luck, and let me know in the comments if you try this and have questions or share how it turned out with me!
