The Dancing Beauty: Northern Lights in Saskatchewan

Sometimes life in North can be tough – especially when the temperature falls to -45 degrees celsius or when you get a flat on the road with no cell reception and passing vehicles. But none of this matters when you see the sky light up at night with green and sometimes yellow, red or purple colours. I am so fortunate to experience and live amongst one of mother natures spectacular miracles.
Have you ever wondering how this beauty is created? They are actually the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth’s atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun’s atmosphere. The colours we see are due to the type of gas particles that are colliding.
Apart from the sky being lit up in green colours, the dance is what truly makes Northern Lights so special. Legends say that the Northern Lights are spirits in the sky and if you whistle at them, they start to dance even faster.
So thankful for my husband, the photographer for capturing these images for us. Can’t get enough of this beauty.
